Meet Ron, the remarkable kitten endowed with a unique ability to soothe patients at the veterinary clinic. Ron’s journey began when he was rescued as a stray from the streets of Colorado. Upon his arrival at Northfield Veterinary Hospital, he was initially quite fearful, often seeking refuge in hiding. However, over time, he grew accustomed to his temporary abode and began engaging with other animals visiting the hospital, seemingly assuring them that everything was alright and dispelling their worries.
“Without any hesitation, he would approach every dog and cat, offering companionship and even attempting to enter their enclosures,” recounted Dr. Shelly Sandel, a veterinarian and co-owner of Northfield Veterinary Hospital, in an interview with The Dodo.
“His nurturing tendencies emerged as he would snuggle up to pets under anesthesia for dental procedures, providing them with warmth and even grooming them as they slumbered, evidently aiming to offer solace,” Sandel shared. Ron spent an enriching three months at the clinic, assuming the role of an unofficial staff member, making his rounds to visit the patients.
As Ron’s endearing antics gained popularity, he quickly became a sought-after presence, with his exploits chronicled on the hospital’s Facebook page. “His charm resonated with our audience, and he soon became a requested ‘service’,” added Jen Weston, co-owner of the hospital, in conversation with Bored Panda.
However, as time went on, it was eventually decided that Ron deserved a permanent and loving home. “He now resides with a family encompassing a young child and an elderly dog. Needless to say, Ron has found himself in a household overflowing with affection,” Sandel concluded.
